What time does Lumos start and end each day?

Our programs run from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm each day!

Lumos sounds serious and academic — will my child actually have fun?

Yes! Our mission is to make public speaking fun. We teach public speaking through fun games and activities that kids love! Lumos is less like a school setting and more like a relaxed summer program! We want to make sure that every day is full of exciting activities and games for our students.  And students also get outdoor time, when we play capture the flag, soccer, football, and other field games!

My child is very shy. Will this be a good fit for him/her?

Yes! Lumos is a great program for shy or quiet students, who particularly benefit from friendly instructors and our 6:1 student-teacher ratio.

What happens if my child decides they don’t like it?

This is quite rare—by the end of the first day, students usually can not wait to come back. However, we do offer a full refund guarantee, just in case!

My child has never done public speaking before, is that okay?

Yes—about half of Lumos students are first-timers, just like your child!

What is the age range?

Lumos offers different programs all the way from 3rd grade to 10th grade.

How do you group the students?

Students get split into different classes based on their age and experience, and then are paired with two instructors in a class of twelve students!

Do you run any overnight programs?

No. Lumos only runs day programs.

Is Lumos a good program for advanced debaters?

No. If your child has attended more than 10 debate tournaments, Lumos is probably not a good fit for them. Our programs are designed for beginner and intermediate debate students.
