Prerequisite: Must have attended either the Lumos Debate Institute (2-week program) or one semester of Lumos Debate Team. Rising 7th grade members of the Lumos Debate Team automatically qualify.
In this program, students will continue to develop their skillset in Public Forum Debate, which is the primary debate format at highschool debate tournaments in the US. Your child will be grouped with other advanced debate students and focus on a variety of PF debate techniques including more research strategies, rebuttal preparation, summary structure, case writing, etc.
The program culminates in a full debate tournament, where students will have the opportunity to compete in three debate rounds, get feedback from judges, and win awards!

We've found that, especially for online coaching, having a small class size is absolutely critical for making sure that every student gets to speak - even our shy or more reluctant students!
The 4:1 student teacher ratio also means that our instructors really get to know each child's strengths and weaknesses and provide targeted coaching throughout the week.
At school, public speaking can be scary, intimidating, and high pressure. At Lumos, we take the exact opposite approach. We want public speaking to be fun, easy, and familiar. We incorporate lots of fun speaking games and activities into the curriculum so students can really have fun as they practice public speaking. Lumos provides a low-pressure environment, where your child has the space to experiment and really find their own unique voice!
