Unlike our summer programs, students will be assigned writing/research homework and be given weekly feedback and editing by our coaches. Students are expected to do research and writing outside of class, and do need to be self-motivated.

We do classes of 8 students with 2 instructors per class. We've found that, especially for online coaching, having a small class size is absolutely critical for making sure that every student gets to speak - even our shy or more reluctant students! The 4:1 student teacher ratio also means that our instructors really get to know each child's strengths and weaknesses and provide targeted coaching throughout the week.
Students will practice a variety of different speeches - from argumentative, to informative, to impromptu! The key to building speaking confidence is practice, practice, practice!
Some students need to speak louder, some students need more eye contact, and some need to work on speaking speed. Every student has different strengths and weaknesses!
Throughout each week, students will get edits and advice as they research and write their cases. In addition, they'll have a chance to do one-on-one conferences with instructors to work on their tournament preparation. And of course, during our classes, students will have a chance to do speaking activities and practice debates so they can get immediate feedback live over zoom!
Especially in public speaking, students have to learn that mistakes are OK, as long as they keep on going and give it their best shot and try again! Our instructors emphasize positive feedback and encouragement.
Our instructors are some of the warmest, kindest people you will ever meet. We are all here because we love the challenge of helping every student find their unique voice.
